What does the area around Blue Mountain Outdoor Adventure Center look like?

Driving to Blue Mountain and seeing the prairie can be very deceiving, until you reach the rolling hills along highway 378. At this point you realize that Blue Mountain Outdoor Adventure Center is in a unique spot that we call our "Mountainous Island on The Prairies". Covering 2500 acres, there is plenty of room to mountain bike, hike, walk, swim, canoe, and kayak -- or just get caught up in the miracles of nature. The area is home to Whitetail, Mule Deer, Moose, Porcupines, Foxes, Coyotes, Rabbits, and Bush Chickens. The resort also hosts a variety of birds including Eagles, Blue Herons, Canada Geese, Sparrow Hawks and much more. At Blue Mountain each season brings with it a unique array of nature's splendor and beauty. In the spring and summer, the land is sprinkled with wild flowers that bloom at various stages. In the fall, the hills are lit up with a spectacular display as the trees change color. In the winter, the resort becomes a haven for tobogganers and skaters, and our trails become host to cross country skiers as they glide among the stillness and beauty that only winter can create. The focal point once you arrive at Blue Mountain Outdoor Adventure Center is our new 3000 square foot log chalet. It is wheelchair accessible, has a kitchen, and modern bathrooms. The chalet offers radiant floor heating, but we still have our wood stove for those who like to sit by a roaring fire; and, yes, we do have overnight accommodations.

Who runs the programs at Blue Mountain Outdoor Adventure Center?

Blue Mountain Outdoor Adventure Center is privately owned and operated. We started operations in 1988 and to date have received no government funding. As a result, we are more flexible in our programming, and our pricing. We have brought together people from different backgrounds to help form a collage of expertise and ideas. Our group of instructors, advisors, and guides that assist us with our programming are teachers, social workers and experienced outdoorsmen. We have one common goal: to work together to bring our love of the outdoors into the hearts of our visitors.

What is Our Philosophy?

We believe that the outdoors is the source of life. It keeps us feeling younger, allows us to relax and takes us away from all the pressures of daily tasks. We understand that we can learn so much by observing nature. If we don't teach people how to enjoy and appreciate nature today, we may not have it around to share tomorrow.

This is why we want to let people enjoy Blue Mountain Outdoor Adventure Center. It is our goal to help each of our visitors appreciate the outdoors in a fun and exciting way. Turning the outdoors into a classroom is a great way to learn.

We limit the use of motorized vehicles beyond the parking lot. We do not allow quads, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, or motor boats on the actual grounds. This policy helps maintain the environment in its natural form for people to enjoy for many years to come.
